THE film-makers behind a comedy about Liverpool FC’s Champions League win in Istanbul are set to start work on a second movie.

The spin-off, which will be called Reds, Blues, Battles And Booze (The Ballad of Dixie And Kenny) will feature some of the characters from their first film, Fifteen Minutes That Shook The World.

Evertonians and die-hard Liverpool followers have the chance to appear in the movie, which is due to be filmed in locations around Liverpool next month.

Liverpool writer Dave Kirby hopes the film will be screened at a city premiere in November before it is released on DVD in time for Christmas.

Mr Kirby said: “In the first film, we have a family of Evertonians in a pub called The Bitter and Twisted Arms, and funnily enough all my Evertonian mates loved it.

“My wife is one of five sisters and all the others are married to Evertonians, so when there is a family do, we are always having banter.

“I brought them to the premiere at the Odeon at Liverpool One last year and they loved it, even though it is celebratory of Liverpool’s Champions League game.

“I knew it connected with Evertonians so I thought ‘what if I can write something that would be for both Liverpool and Everton fans?’ It is like a semi-musical really. It is well balanced – both teams are ridiculed, it is just great Scouse banter.

“There will be two boxes when we bring it out on DVD – a blue box and a red box – because I knew Evertonians would not buy it if it was a red box.”

The film will star Andrew Schofield, who played investigative journalist Alan Wacker in the first film and is taking on the role of Kenny, the head of the Liverpool family.

It also features Paul Duckworth as Dixie and actress Lindzi Germain.
