Shirley Evans
During her long and varied career, Shirley travelled the world, playing her accordion, singing and dancing.
She also gave three Royal Command Performances, including one for the Queen at Buckingham Palace.
Among her other high-profile roles was playing accordion with the Norrie Paramour Orchestra, backing Cliff Richard in the 1968 Eurovision Song Contest when he came second with Congratulaftions.
She was born in 1932 in Birkenhead, the daughter of a Liverpool taxi driver.
Her first big break came in 1950, when she joined the Al Podesta Accordion Band, and then became a solo professional accordionist, singer and dancer.
She travelled extensively, entertaining British armed forces stationed overseas.
She is survived by her partner of 34 years, Robert Owens.
