Camilla visit
HER Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall enjoyed a visit to Liverpool children’s charity, Kind as well as dropping in on a community regeneration project in Anfield.
The distinguished guest arrived at the charity’s city centre Back Canning Street headquarters to see how it works with disadvantaged children.
The organisation gives disadvantaged youngsters the chance to take part in activities, such as cooking and growing vegetables in the charity’s garden. The Duchess helped celebrate its 35th anniversary by cutting a birthday cake, and chatted to children as they baked in the kitchen and fished for newts in the pond.
She said: “I just want to say happy birthday to Kind.
”I think it is a fantastic place, I am so impressed.”
Hannah Kenyon, nine, from Anfield, and Kelly Clarke, 11, from Toxteth, were among the youngsters.
Hannah said: “She was nice, we have all been excited today.”
Kind chief executive Stephen Yip said: “She was really friendly and we have all enjoyed the visit.
“The charity is very much in tune with what the Duchess and Prince Charles stand for, sustainability, education and showing disadvantaged youngsters what life can offer.”
She then made her way flanked by police outriders to Old Barn Street in Anfield.
