Wirral Arrowe Park hospital doctor accused of sex assault

A YOUNG woman was sexually assaulted by a health centre GP, a court has heard.

Dr Raza Hyder, 40, is alleged to have molested the 23-year-old woman after she visited the Arrowe Park Hospital walk-in centre complaining of stomach ache.

Hyder, of Sandhurst Drive, Wilmslow, denies assault by penetration on July 31, 2009.

The doctor insists he gave the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, an entirely appropriate medical examination.

But Arthur Gibson, prosecuting, told Liverpool Crown Court jurors Hyder had committed a sexual assault on her. It is alleged during Hyder’s consultation he lowered the woman’s leggings and underwear and touched her in a sexual manner, before asking her to turn over and performing the act a second time.

Hyder was arrested and interviewed a couple of days later. He insisted his consultation had been completely proper.

The case continues.
