LIVERPOOL will celebrate its links with New York on Sunday, August 8, when it hosts a Lindy Hop dance challenge.
The event will be part of the second instalment of this summer’s On The Waterfront Festival at the Pier Head. Along with other performances, it will celebrate the very best of international outdoor dance. The festival will run from August 6 to 8.
Liverpool will be putting its own twist on the Lindy Hop dance, which was developed in New York in the 1920’s.
Lord Mayor Cllr Hazel Williams is launching the challenge with dancers from Liverpool Theatre School and long-time jitterbuggers Frank and Jean Jenkinson.
Those taking part in the Lindy Hop challenge will also be automatically entered into a prize draw for a return day trip from Liverpool for two people on the Orient Express Northern Belle.
