Outdoor activities centre in Otterspool approved

A MAJOR outdoor activities centre in Liverpool was given the go- ahead by councillors.

The development will swing into action after the planning committee approved plans brought by former Marine Keith Perryman.

The plan for the former council landscape maintenance depot, in Otterspool, includes climbing ropes, climbing tower, a maze and a fort, as well as a cafe and reception building and car park.

Mr Perryman, who spent 29 years in the armed forces, said he hoped the centre would encourage youngsters and adults to get fit and have fun.

He added the redevelopment of the site would be in keeping with the wider regeneration of the area.

Some concerns were raised by councillors about the possible impact of extra traffic to the site, but Mr Perryman said he was confident the vehicles travelling to the site would not cause congestion problems.

The application was approved unanimously.
