INSPECTORS from the Royal Horticultural Society were due in Woolton village today as they scour the country for the would- be winners of a Britain in Bloom gold medal.
The village is in the running for the “best large village” category.
Having won the award six times in the past, the village is in a prime position to clean up again at this year’s award.
Woolton Cllr Barbara Mace said: “The Woolton community deserves great credit for creating such a beautiful area in our city, which has gained national recognition for Liverpool.”
Residents hope to wow the judges with a range of innovations, including an edible garden outside the Coach and Horses, on Woolton Street, new rose beds on High Street, a conservation project in Lodes Pond, at the village centre, and spectacular village entrance sites.
