Liverpool Council regeneration chief John Kelly joins city exodus

LIVERPOOL'S head of regeneration will become the latest senior figure to leave the local authority.

John Kelly, executive director of regeneration, was last night in the process of hammering out the terms of his departure.

The Daily Post understands Mr Kelly, who has worked at the council for more than 10 years, was unhappy about the way the council is being restructured.

Last month, the city council offered voluntary redundancy to any manager earning more than £60,000 as part of a far-reaching efficiency drive. Last week, the Daily Post revealed five of the top and longest-serving managers were departing in one of the biggest management culls in decades.

The city council last night declined to comment on Mr Kelly's departure, but sources confirmed he would be leaving next month.

Assistant chief executive Ben Dolan, city treasurer Robert Corbett, and assistant executive director Peter Cosgrove have already departed.
