Marcus Wareing Berkeley restaurant highly rated in Good Food Guide

SOUTHPORT chef Marcus Wareing’s London restaurant, Marcus Wareing at the Berkeley, has held its own in the 2011 Good Food Guide released today.

But Heston Blumenthal’s The Fat Duck has held its title as the UK’s best restaurant.

The Which? guide awarded Blumenthal’s restaurant a rare 10 out of 10, describing it as producing “a procession of world-beating dishes for the bedazzled throngs”.

The restaurant has now held the top spot for three years in a row.

Gordon Ramsay’s Royal Hospital Road restaurant took second place, for the second year, praised by judges as “the nearest thing to a world-class restaurant experience currently on offer in the capital”.

Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons in Oxfordshire took third place.

Ramsay’s flagship restaurant was the only London establishment to make the top five.

Up-and-coming chefs at L’Enclume, in Cumbria, and Restaurant Nathan Outlaw, in Cornwall, were named in fourth and fifth place.

Marcus Wareing at the Berkeley came in at number seven.
