MERSEYSIDE A-level students fearing their exam cheers will turn to tears, due to a scramble for university places, are being offered a helping hand from the Daily Post.
Students across the region are tomorrow expected to join their national counterparts and celebrate record A-Level results which could increase for the 28th consecutive year.
But with applications to universities up nearly 12% on last year – 170,000 students are expected to miss out on a university place with the possibility those dropping even one grade could find they are turned away.
The scramble is expected to result in the amount of places through clearing – the system which matches those who have been turned down by their original choices to other courses – are down on the 47,000 places that were taken through clearing last year.
But, to help students who may not have performed as expected, the Daily Post has again teamed up with Anne Wilson, head of admissions at Edge Hill University, in Ormskirk.
Anne, with the help of students who successfully negotiated the clearing process last year, will be conducting a live blog between 11am and 1pm tomorrow on our website, www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk
Anyone logging on will be able to ask questions and get tips and career advice.
