Liverpool cruise liner guests treated at Sefton Palm House

PASSENGERS on an American five star cruise liner were treated to afternoon tea at Sefton Palm House.

The Azamara Journey, berthed at the Cruise Terminal yesterday at the Pier Head, had American Automobile Association south chair Bob Sharp and 79 of his members among its passengers.

The AAA is a massive north American not-for-profit automobile service organisation with millions of members.

In Sefton Park the 80-strong group were treated to afternoon tea, sandwiches and scones and the palm orchestra played for the special guests.

Organiser Rosemary Sorrell said: “It was great. We did a similar event a couple of years ago. They were all very impressed that the city was doing it because Liverpool is not always a stop point for smaller cruises.

“The Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Hazel Williams, was in attendance and the guests were very impressed with her being there.

“It was a very English occasion and they enjoyed their scones, tea and strawberries and cream.

“They liked the history of the Palm House building.”
