A SPITFIRE display is expected to be one of the main attractions at this weekend’s Hoylake and West Kirby Lifeboats Open Day.
The free event on the promenade at Hoylake has attracted tens of thousands of visitors in previous years – and raised thousands of pounds for the lifeboat through donations from those attending.
Taking place on Bank Holiday Monday from 10am until 6pm the event also includes various charity stalls and attractions along the promenade.
The aircraft displays start at noon with wing-walkers performing daredevil twists and turns, followed by the Spitfire display at 2pm and a Russian Yaks aircraft at 3.30pm, followed again at 4.15pm when the ever popular Spitfire will return.
The RNLI Lifeboat will be on the promenade and the crew will welcome visitors aboard to look around, and the new boathouse will be open and selling lifeboat souvenirs.
Visitors will have the chance to win a VW car by throwing dice, and can buy a raffle ticket for a mountain bike (donated by Roy's Cycles Hoylake). There will also be refreshments, a small children's funfair and a funhouse.
