80,000 dance the weekend away at Creamfields

UP to 80,000 party-goers flocked to this year’s Creamfields dance festival.

Intermittent showers and sunshine greeted revellers to Daresbury for the two-day show over the Bank Holiday weekend.

David Guetta was the big draw on the Saturday evening as around 30,000 fans packed in front of the main stage to dance with the French DJ. And the Parisian even found time to wish a special happy birthday to Creamfields boss James Barton who turned 42 during the festival.

Deadmau5 attracted a similarly large audience before Guetta while Dutch trance master Tiesto was set to headline and close the event late on Sunday evening.

A Cream spokeswoman said: “Early indications are it’s gone really well. Weather was up and down, but by Sunday afternoon the sun came out and everyone was lazing on the grass.

“People heeded our advice and turned up early, we got 16,000 into the camping zone within the first few hours.”

Creamfields sold out for the second consecutive year, shifting all its 80,000 quota.
