A MERSEYSIDE man will be on board the world’s biggest airliner as it touches down in the North West for the first time today.
In-flight manager Arron Scutt will lead a team of 26 cabin crew on the Emirates A380 “superjumbo” plane when it lands at Manchester airport at 12.25pm from Dubai.
It is also the first time an A380 has operated a scheduled service to a regional airport, and will see the start of a daily scheduled service between Manchester and Dubai.
Southport-born Arron, 32, said: “It is a great honour to be involved with the A380’s inaugural flight to Manchester.
“I was also on the aircraft two years ago when it took its first flight to New York.”
Arron, who has worked for Emirates for seven years, said: “It will be a fantastic occasion when we land in Manchester.
“I have heard thousands are planning to attend.
“All my family and some friends are travelling over to see us in and I will be spending the night in Manchester with them before flying back to Dubai the next day.”
