YOKO ONO is visiting Liverpool today to be given a preview of a new centre at John Lennon’s old school.
The Sure Start Children’s Centre, a joint project between Dovedale Junior and Dovedale Infants schools, is a local support base for children from birth and up to school age and their families.
It will offer advisory services including care in pregnancy, child welfare, family support groups, childminding and social activities.
Yoko was expected to be given a tour of the new building as well as meeting current pupils at the Herondale Road school where the young John Lennon was a pupil.
The 77-year-old artist has been a regular visitor to the school – whose choir performed in International Beatle Week’s Peace, Love and Understanding concert at the weekend – over the years.
Dovedale Junior School headteacher Nik Smith said: “We were lucky enough to see her two years ago at Mendips.”
Yoko was expected to visit John’s childhood home Mendips, which she bought and donated to the National Trust seven years ago.
