Jaguar Land Rover 300
JAGUAR Land Rover will lead three multi-million pound projects aimed at helping low carbon electric cars become a reality, it was announced yesterday.
It will steer groups of scientists working on high-tech research and development that could feed into the production cars of the future.
The Department for Transport yesterday announced six schemes had won a competition for a share of £24m of public money being poured into green technology.
Jaguar Land Rover’s (JLR) Halewood plant, which employs around 1,900 people, already makes the Evoque, the greenest and most fuel-efficient Range Rover ever.
One of the projects given the green light yesterday has been dubbed REEVolution. It will see JLR working with Lotus and Nissan, as well as other partners, to develop how small combustion engines can be used to charge batteries in long-range electric cars.
