Liverpool mums-to-be hope in plea to Clegg prior to UN millennium goals visit
A GROUP of Liverpool mothers-to-be called on Lib-Dem leader Nick Clegg to promote better maternity services for expectant mothers in the developing world.
The demonstration, organised by Oxfam, was ahead of Mr Clegg’s visit to the UN in New York later this week where discussions will take place around the progress made in meeting the Millennium Development goals, which were intended to improve life expectancy in the developing world. More than 1,000 women die during childbirth or pregnancy every day, around the world.
