Liverpool commuters hit by Moorfield station closure

LIVERPOOL'S Moorfields station has re-opened after a fault with its escalators was fixed.

Network Rail, which owns the station, said a "power supply problem" caused them to stop working in the early hours of this morning.

The issue also hit the city's busiest interchange, Central Station, but the problem there was fixed by around 6am.

Merseyrail trains on the Northern and Wirral lines were not stopping at Moorfields, but have now resumed normal service.

A Network Rail spokesman said: "Moorfields has to stay closed from a safety point of view."
