A TRADE union activist was under police protection after far- right extremists posted threats on a website.
Alec McFadden, a prominent member of the TUC and anti-fascist campaigner, said he feared a second attack after being nearly blinded in 2006 by a knife-wielding thug at his Wirral home.
He alerted Merseyside police – who said the threats were “unacceptable” – after discovering a doctored image of himself on the English Defence League Merseyside branch’s website.
It used a picture of Mr McFadden taken in Liverpool city centre when BNP leader Nick Griffin was in town for a demonstration.
A police spokesman said: “We are aware of threats being made against an individual in the Wallasey area and have spoken to the person concerned.”
