A SENIOR GP who added false details to records and failed to visit a patient who took an overdose was suspended for six months.
Dr David Reade, who worked for Aintree Park Group Practice, added codes to scores of patient records, indicating annual check-ups for conditions including epilepsy and asthma were completed.
But he had not carried out those checks-ups, or asked if other doctors had done, a General Medical Council (GMC) hearing was told.
The GMC panel concluded his fitness to practise was impaired and found him guilty of misconduct.
But members of the panel added he was a “good doctor” and unlikely to act dishonestly again.
Several positive testimonials were submitted by colleagues and supervisors to the hearing.
The panel heard Dr Reade, a former clinical governance lead for North Liverpool primary care trust (PCT), had admitted two charges relating to scores of patients between May, 2004, and January, 2008.
He also admitted how, on May 4, 2005, while working as a GP for the out-of-hours service Urgent Care 24 (UC24), he had a telephone consultation with the mother of a patient who had taken an overdose.
