Girl attacked by pitbull-type dog

A FOUR-YEAR-OLD girl left with facial injuries after being mauled by a neighbour’s dog is recovering from her ordeal.

The girl, named locally as Eva, was rushed to Alder Hey children’s hospital shortly after 3pm on Sunday when the pitbull-type dog attacked her.

Yesterday, her family were too upset to speak about what happened to the little girl while she was playing on Sunday afternoon.

Police described the girl’s condition as “comfortable” and said she was due to be released from hospital last night.

It is believed she was at her next-door neighbour’s semi-detached home in Unicorn Road, Croxteth, when she was attacked.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene.

Peter Shearon, 28, was arrested and charged with possession of a prohibited dog under the Dangerous Dogs Act. The dog was taken away by police and destroyed.
