A GLOBAL peace monument in memory of murdered Beatle John Lennon will be unveiled at a ceremony in Liverpool tomorrow.
Final preparations were due to take place today for the launch of the city’s John Lennon tribute season.
The two-month event kicks off tomorrow morning with the unveiling of the Global Peace Initiative’s 18ft peace monument, at Chavasse Park.
Ambassadors from several European countries will join civic dignitaries, Beatles Story and Global Peace Initiative leaders, and Lennon’s son Julian and former wife, Cynthia, at the event.
The monument, created by American artist Lauren Voiers and brought to Liverpool by the Beatles Story, will be officially unveiled by 47-year-old Julian.
City council leader Joe Anderson said: "I'm delighted Liverpool has been chosen to represent Europe as the home of this monument to global peace.
"It’s a fitting way to remember John on what would have been his 70th birthday and perfectly launches our Lennon Tribute Season.
