Tribute to Liverpool Lark Lane Atelier owner Frances Seymour

AN ARTIST who ran a gallery in Liverpool has died, aged 79.

Frances Seymour set up the Atelier, on Lark Lane, in Aigburth, just six years ago hosting exhibitions by dozens of artists including Alex Corina, Stanislav Frenkiel and Elizabeth Willow.

A mother of four – Tim, Ben, Eliza and Helen – she moved from Bristol to Liverpool, aged 73, after her youngest attended LIPA.

Her son, Ben Hurdle, said: “She fell in love with Liverpool people.

"She loved that strangers would start a conversation with her and that people always enjoyed life even though times were often hard.

“She was evangelical about art, but not in a pushy way. That’s why she set up the Atelier – for the sake of it being here.

“And that was why she was so angry about dying. She wanted more time to establish it.”
