Gilly Coman
BREAD star Gilly Coman died from a heart condition while visiting her mother’s grave – just weeks before she was due to have a lifesaving operation.
An inquest yesterday heard the 54-year-old was found collapsed on a bench in the garden of rest at All Saints Church in her home town of Caldy, Wirral.
Tragically, she was due to have a pacemaker fitted two weeks after her death on July 13.
The inquest at Wallasey Town Hall heard the mother-of-four, who played Aveline in the sitcom, had suffered from heart problems since the age of 18.
The actress – who was known by her married name, Gillian Cutts – had hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, a thickening of the heart muscle.
She also suffered episodic memory loss.
Recently she had complained of a fast, erratic heartbeat and episodes of breathlessness.
