City leaders host meeting in Liverpool wheel to mark Britain for Events week

CITY leaders were due to take to the sky today for a meeting in the Liverpool Echo Wheel to mark Britain for Events week.

ACC Liverpool’s chief executive Bob Prattey hosted the meeting with Cllr Wendy Simon, cabinet member for culture at Liverpool council and Rod Holmes, chairman of The Mersey Partnership to discuss the development of business tourism within the local economy.

Britain for Events week runs between October 18 and 25, and is a national scheme aimed to raise the profile of the meetings industry.

Mr Prattey said: “The Liberal Democrat conference boosted the local economy by an estimated £10m, and is a perfect example of the impact that the events industry can have on businesses throughout Liverpool – from hotels to city attractions.”
