Proud grandmother Margaret Dobson, who has travelled from Sydney, Austrialia, holds miracle baby Ann-Margaret next to parents and ministers, Susan and Shane Comiskey
AN ANTIPODEAN couple have told of their joy now the baby they prayed would come for 22 years has finally arrived.
Pastors Susan and Shane Comiskey’s hopes were rewarded on October 2 when baby Anna Margaret entered the world at Liverpool Women’s Hospital.
The 8lb 4oz baby’s birth was even more of a wonder because last year Mrs Comiskey, 43, underwent treatment for thyroid cancer which could have made her infertile.
She is originally from Australia, and her husband, 55, hails from New Zealand.
The couple have lived all over the world, including Uganda and Tonga, before settling in West Derby in the summer of 2007, where they founded the Victory Family Centre.
Mr Comiskey told the Daily Post: “We came here as a Kiwi and a Kangaroo, and now we have a little Scouser!
“We’ve wanted children since we got married 22 years ago – whenever people asked, we always said we had them on order but they hadn’t been delivered yet.”
His wife added how everyone in their church has been generous and genuinely happy for them, providing a bespoke, handknitted wardrobe for baby Anna Margaret.
Today’s happy family image belies a long struggle for the couple, and one shared by thousands of others who want children but each month are faced with the same heartache.
