LEADING Merseyside figures unanimously backed the Daily Post’s Get On Board campaign for cruise liners to start and finish voyages at Liverpool’s Pier Head.
Cllr Joe Anderson, Liverpool Council leader, wrote to transport minister Mike Penning MP to overturn last year’s decision, which prevents the cruise terminal from operating turnarounds.
Cllr Anderson said: “This campaign is not just Liverpool’s. The terminal has the potential to be the North West’s gateway for cruise holidays.
“This cause will reap economic dividends for the whole region.
“The restriction currently imposed upon the terminal is hampering the style of sustainable economic growth David Cameron is calling for.”
