LAW firm DWF is launching a new “transparency” campaign to promote its range of funding options for commercial litigation.
Graham Dagnall, DWF’s practice group partner for litigation, said: “In the right circumstances, we are looking to try to undertake a risk sharing exercise with clients – come up with something that’s a bit more innovative in the way it’s priced.”
Mr Dagnall told LDP legal that around 15-20% of the firm’s work is on a contingent basis, and he hoped it would rise to “maybe 35% or so”.
He hoped to attract clients currently put off by their perception of what litigation costs by offering options which were “not necessarily the conventional model of an hourly bill”.
He added: “What we are saying is that litigation can actually be a good opportunity for them. This new approach means that we are able to give our clients clarity over the funding options and costs in advance, with no nasty surprises.”
