LDP Legal: Hill Dickinson’s property team helps Boodles set up in Savoy hotel

PROPERTY lawyers at Hill Dickinson advised top-end jewellers Boodles on acquiring its new London store.

The Liverpool-based boutique is opening its fifth store in the capital – and ninth nationwide – in the Savoy Hotel, which re-opened after a £100m refurbishment last month.

It could pave the way for the jewellers to open more stores in luxury hotels.

Hill Dickinson advised Boodles on the agreement for lease, the new lease and licence for alterations.

The new store will form part of a brand-new retail offering for the hotel and is due to open in a few weeks.

Hill Dickinson commercial property partner Abby Dry helped steer the new lease through.

She said: “We have been working with Boodles for many years now and we were extremely pleased to have been an instrumental part of this deal, which will see the opening of what will be the fifth Boodles store in the city, situated in the heart of the Savoy’s flagship London hotel.”

Boodles, whose flagship store is in Liverpool’s Lord Street, was founded in 1798 and has been guided by six generations of the Wainwright family.

The firm’s joint managing director and owner, Nicholas Wainwright, added: “This is a very exciting new concept for the company and, if successful, will be repeated at other appropriate hotels in other countries.

“Hill Dickinson did another marvellous job on our lease.”
