Samurai warriors give demonstration of swords and armor at Liverpool’s World Museum
LIVERPOOL’S World Museum was transformed into an ancient Oriental battleground where visitors could tackle fearsome Samurai warriors.
The decorative armour and hand-crafted steel swords synonymous with the Japanese guardians of Royalty and nobility were used in yesterday’s demonstration at the Treasure House Theatre, where visitors had the chance to learn about the culture and traditions of one of history’s most feared fighting forces – whose complex suits of armour could take up to a year to make.
But the Samurai, who existed from the eighth century until the end of World War Two, were not just fighters – many were learned men of letters, poets, artists and religious scholars.
