THOUSANDS of DVDs of the comedy film The Ballad Of Dixie And Kenny have been stolen from a wagon in Merseyside.
The cargo was ransacked in the early hours of yesterday morning in Aintree.
Around 6,700 copies were taken from the lorry after a square hole was cut in the vehicle’s curtain side for the boxes to be passed through.
Once inside, thieves ripped plastic from dozens of disc boxes.
Roughly 6,000 of the Liverpool version of the film were taken, along with 700 of the Everton version.
The movie focuses on the unique relationship between Everton and Liverpool fans living in the city through the lens of a fanatical Kopite family and their next door Everton neighbours.
The DVD is set to go on sale this week.
A Merseyside police spokesman said: “We are appealing for information following the theft of a large number of DVDs from a HGV in Aintree which was reported yesterday.
“It is believed that the two pallets of DVDs were stolen while the vehicle was parked up during the night. An investigation is under way.”
ANYONE with information should call Sergeant Jim Wilde on 0151-777 3125.
