Town Crier Don Evans rallies support as Christine Maloney from Aigburth signs the Get On Board petition
THE Daily Post’s Get On Board campaign received a ringing endorsement yesterday from West Lancashire Town Crier Don Evans.
Our petition calls upon the Government to waive the restrictions banning “turnarounds” – cruises starting and finishing – at the Pier Head. You can sign our online petition by clicking here.
Mr Evans, who is a regular greeter of international cruise visitors disembarking at Liverpool Cruise Terminal, said: “It just makes sense.
"Why should we from the North have all the way to travel down to Southampton for a cruise, when we have got the facilities and when Liverpool was always known as number one for shipping in the old days?
"I think this could be the beginning of a great resurgence for Liverpool.”
Mr Evans rallied support by the ferry terminal, with more than a hundred people stopping to sign our petition in just two hours.
Liverpool residents and tourists alike backed our campaign, including Christine Maloney, of Aigburth.
Her name will join hundreds more who have already sent in their coupons or signed up online.
