Labour’s North West conference in Merseyside this weekend

HUNDREDS of Labour Party members will descend on Merseyside this weekend for their North West conference.

Party leaders Andy Burnham and Ed Balls are both due to speak in Southport, with Sefton Central MP Bill Esterson opening the meeting.

Louise Baldock, chair of Labour North West’s Regional Board, said: “We’re delighted to be returning to Southport for our regional conference for the fourth consecutive year.

“Southport will provide an excellent venue for Labour shadow ministers and party members to shape Labour’s solutions to the challenges that the North West faces.”

In a statement to party members on the eve of the conference, leader Ed Miliband said Labour would be “restless, radical and reforming” and described the Government’s spending review as a “reckless gamble”.
