Liverpool Lord Mayor supports Get On Board and thanks cruise terminal team

LIVERPOOL Cruise Terminal staff received an official thank you from the Lord Mayor for their work in welcoming thousands of overseas visitors to the city this summer.

Lord Mayor Cllr Hazel Williams welcomed Cruise Terminal manager Angie Redhead and Bob Swift, operations manager, with eight of their team, at Liverpool Town Hall.

Invited to tea in the Lord Mayor’s Parlour, the event marked the close of the third summer season of cruise liner calls.

There were 17 cruise liner calls with over 30,000 passengers at the Cruise Terminal between May and the end of August, plus visits by Royal Navy warships and other non-passenger vessels.

As Lord Mayor, Cllr Williams was not only official guest of honour at ship arrivals such as the maiden call of Cunard Line’s flagship RMS Queen Mary 2, but also greeted passengers at the landing stage from many other ships.

Cllr Williams said: “I just wanted to say thank you so much to the Cruise Terminal team who play such a part in welcoming these very important visitors to the city.

“The team is such a credit to the city. They really are the business when it comes to giving that very special welcome which visitors expect arriving in Liverpool.

“The cruise liner team is all about creating the right first impressions for people who have never been here before and they achieve that fantastically.”
