Liverpool is launching a major drive to get more residents online

LIVERPOOL is launching a major drive to get more residents online – backed by the Government’s Digital Champion, Martha Lane Fox.

It follows research which reveals 69% of people in the city are considered socially and digitally excluded because they don’t have easy access to the internet, or know how to use it.

Today Liverpool will sign up to become a partner in the Government’s national Race Online 2012 project, which aims to get four million of the most disadvantaged people on to the internet within two years.

A pilot will see 50 families given free computers, internet access and training.
