CHERIE BOOTH has given her backing to the Royal Court’s ambitious restoration plans.
The theatre’s trustees held a special evening last night to launch their capital campaign to renovate and refurbish the grade ll-listed Art Deco theatre.
Guests including the Lord Mayor Cllr Hazel Williams and representatives of the Heritage Lottery Fund and English Heritage were treated to a champagne reception in the Penthouse suite of the city’s West Tower before attending the performance of Lennon at the Royal Court.
Ms Booth said: “The Royal Court is one of my favourite buildings and a great example of our Art Deco architecture.
“I’m delighted the Trust is working with Liverpool City Council to restore the theatre for future generations.
“I know the people of Liverpool are playing an important role in this project by supporting the fantastic shows produced by the theatre and I know the Trust will do everything it can to improve the theatre for their benefit.”
