LIVERPOOL council’s former finance director Phil Halsall will become chief executive of neighbouring authority Lancashire.
Mr Halsall departed the city last year, soon after becoming director of resources at Lancashire County Council.
Earlier this month it was announced that the county council’s current chief executive, Ged Fitzgerald, would take over the helm at Liverpool to replace departed Colin Hilton.
When Mr Fitzgerald comes to Liverpool in February Mr Halsall will take over the helm in Lancashire.
The arrangement will save the taxpayer more than £500,000 over three years because Mr Halsall’s £148,000 post of director of resources and deputy chief executive will be deleted, and £80,000 recruitment costs will be saved. Mr Halsall got a £500,000 pay-off when he left the city council after nine years.
