Tributes paid after fatal Smithdown Road crash in Liverpool

TRIBUTES were paid to a 48-year-old man who died in a car crash.

He and another man were repairing a white transit van on Smithdown Road when it was hit by a silver Ford Fiesta.

The other man received minor injuries but the 21-year-old Fiesta driver, who is from the Bootle area, was critically hurt.

His 22-year-old passenger suffered a broken arm.

A pedestrian also received minor injuries.

It happened at 5.20pm on Saturday at Smithdown Road’s junction with Blenheim Road.

Flowers were left at the scene. One message read: “To Alan. A true gentleman.”
