Lady Edwina Grosvenor , Dan Snow
THE daughter of property billionaire the Duke of Westminster married her TV presenter fiance in a low key ceremony in Liverpool.
Lady Edwina Grosvenor, 28, wed TV historian Dan Snow, 32, in a quiet Woolton service conducted by the Bishop of Liverpool on Saturday.
The family announced the marriage of their second daughter to the son of TV presenter Peter Snow, only after the couple had exchanged their vows.
Speaking afterwards, the couple said: “Neither of us has ever wanted a big white wedding and we are delighted that we have been free to plan a simple and relaxed wedding exactly as we wished with our families around us.”
Their nuptials were in contrast to the glamorous high society wedding of Lady Edwina’s sister, Tamara, to Prince Charles’s godson, Edward van Cutsem, held at Chester Cathedral in 2004 and attended by the Queen.
Publicity-shy philanthropist Lady Edwina assists the Bishop in his ministry as Bishop to Prisons.
She was educated at a state school near the family’s Eton Hall estate, near Chester, and during her childhood was once taken to visit a Liverpool drug rehabilitation centre by her father, in a bid to give her a rounded view of the world.
A statement from the diocese said: “The Bishop of Liverpool was delighted to conduct the wedding of Lady Edwina Grosvenor and Mr Dan Snow in his Chapel at Bishop’s Lodge, under licence from the Archbishop of Canterbury.”
