Woman injured after being struck by city centre bus

A WOMAN was injured after she was struck by a bus in Liverpool city centre.

It happened at the height of yesterday afternoon’s rush hour, shortly after 5pm.

The single-decker Arriva bus struck the 20-year-old woman in Crosshall Street, close to Whitechapel and the Conservation Centre.

She was taken to hospital with head injuries and a possible broken ankle, which were not life threatening.

Arriva said a “thorough investigation” would be carried out into the circumstances of the incident.

The Number 47 Arriva bus was travelling from Southport to Liverpool when the collision occurred.

An Arriva spokeswoman said: “I can confirm that one of our vehicles was involved in an incident in Liverpool city centre. We understand that the person involved was injured and we are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances.”
