Real ale fans brave freezing temperatures to buy tickets for Liverpool beer festival

REAL ale fans queued in freezing temperatures for the chance to buy tickets for the ever-popular 2011 Liverpool Beer Festival.

Tickets for the event in the Metropolitan cathedral’s Crypt sold out in minutes on Saturday. More than a hundred hardy souls braved icy conditions from around 6am, although tickets did not go on sale until 10am.

And the queue stretched around the block as far back as Mount Pleasant.

The three-day beer festival usually attracts around 5,000 people.

Next year it will be held between February 24 and 26 and will include 220 real ales plus real ciders and perries.
