THE shocking safety record at the woodchip factory where two men were killed last week can today be exposed.
In the past nine years, there have been 22 serious accidents – which include fires and chemical leaks – at the Sonae plant, in Kirkby.
The Health and Safety figures reveal that there were five dangerous near misses at the Knowsley Industrial Park site and 45 workers were forced to take time off work after suffering injuries.
Prohibition notices have been issued and the company has been taken to court four times with fines totalling £132,000.
