JOHN Bishop crowned a memorable year by being presented with a special award by the Echo Arena Liverpool.
The comedian was handed the accolade to mark his show Sunshine becoming the best-selling event ever staged at the waterfront venue.
Bishop, whose May show was a sell-out, has sold 56,000 tickets for his run of stand-up appearances at the arena which started on Friday and continue until this Wednesday.
And the show has proved so popular with Merseyside comedy fans the 44-year-old has now added a seventh date at the venue on June 5 next year.
He said: “The award is for the most tickets sold in a single run. Apparently I’ve beaten Mamma Mia! by 1,000. I feel very, very good about being back.”
Echo arena general manager Tim Banfield said: “We’re thrilled to present John with this award. He’s a fantastic comedian and great ambassador for Liverpool.”
