MERSEYSIDE Police have called for a halt to any new bars and nightclubs in Liverpool city centre, in response to what they say is a growing tide of anti-social behaviour and other trouble at weekends.
The move comes after an 18% rise in assaults in the Ropewalks, Cavern Quarter and Hardman Street in the past two years, and with the Police facing a cut in resources.
