THE inaugural Liverpool Boat Show will have the biggest attendance for an event of its type in Europe and generate £30m for the city’s economy, organisers revealed last night.

Between 300,000 and 400,000 people are expected to visit Liverpool’s waterfront for the 10 day extravaganza – beating the current biggest show held in Dusseldorf, Germany, which has an attendance of 220,000.

Rob Mackenzie, managing director of organisers Marine Industry Events, said the huge distinguishing factor for Liverpool’s boat show, which starts on April 29, was its impressive backdrop of the World Heritage Site.

“The thing that sets the Liverpool Boat Show apart is its location.

“No other boat show in Europe that has such a dramatic or historic location as this – right in the city centre in a beautiful world heritage site, fabulous.

“We are setting out to create a boat show like no other.”

In an exclusive interview with the Daily Post, he revealed the logic behind the decision to launch a boat show in Liverpool, centred around the Albert Dock.
