Questions raised over gritting in Sefton

THE inquest has begun into how Sefton Council dealt with the big freeze.

At a private meeting in Bootle Town Hall last night, seven councillors and two senior officers waded through a long list of questions put to politicians by angry families. Motorists, shoppers and businesses want to know why large areas of Sefton were not cleared of ice.

The council have apologised for the disruption, but said they did their best.

Councillors will be asking: why it took so long to clear streets; about rumours surrounding the sale of grit and a snow plough to other local authorities; and when and where ploughs were used.
