PREPARATIONS are under way to make sure Liverpool’s Chinese New Year celebrations are a roaring success.
A 70ft dragon will weave its way through Chinatown next Sunday, February 7, to mark the celebrations.
Performers yesterday had their final practice session before the big event, which will also see lion and unicorns “dance” for the crowds. More than 20,000 people took part in 2010, marking the Chinese Year of the Tiger. This year is the Year of the Rabbit.
The Chinese dragon, lion and unicorn dances will take place at 11am in Berry Street, Nelson Street and Duke Street, and there will be a firecracker display at Great George Square.
