Merseyside tourism can support an extra 14,000 jobs in region before 2020

The Visitor Economy

TMP believes an additional 14,000 jobs will be created in tourism and generate an overall economic impact of £4.2bn by 2020.

Liverpool FC commercial director and Visitor Economy committee chairman Ian Ayre said: “The Visitor Economy Strategy sets out the priorities, activities and projects that stakeholders collectively feel offer the best prospects to increase the competitiveness of Liverpool City Region and maximise generation of additional GVA via the Visitor Economy.

“It provides a clear rationale for investment in the Visitor Economy.”

One of the huge areas of potential for the Visitor Economy is the Pier Head cruise terminal.

Currently the Pier Head operates as a stopping point for cruises but can not act as a start or end point for trips.

However the government has now pledged to review that situation.
