LIVERPOOL stars Nicola Roberts and John Bishop are lending their support to this year’s Comic Relief campaign.
The Girls Aloud singer is one of a number of celebrities showing off limited edition T-shirts designed by British style icon Vivienne Westwood, and comedian John Bishop will be making an appearance in a special edition of the Beano magazine for Comic Relief.
The Comic Relief T-shirts are an eclectic collection of striking black and white prints that represent a unique fusion of humour and iconic historical images.
A host of celebrities including Sienna Miller, John Cleese and David Walliams are modelling the tops with photographs taken by Bryan Adams.
The designs include Rowan Atkinson as “Edmund”, and Miranda Richardson as “Queenie” from the Blackadder series, and William Shakespeare.
All T-shirts feature Comic Relief’s signature Red Nose.
Vivienne Westwood said: “Comic Relief does a lot and I try to help where I can.
“I do believe we are an endangered species and I think it is great to try and do anything you possibly can even if to help just one person. But Comic Relief does more than that.”
The T-shirts have been wholly manufactured in Africa using Fairtrade cotton countries.
The collection is on sale online and in TK Maxx stores now, with all net profits from sales going towards Red Nose Day on Friday, March 18.
Stand-up comic Bishop, who has made regular appearances on the BBC’s Have I Got News For You and Live at the Apollo, will appear as a cartoon character in the Red Nose Day issue of BeanoMAX.
Beano’s Roger will try to hunt down the funnyman in an attempt to steal a joke and kid his way into a talent show hosted by Emma Bunton at the Beano Town Hall.
On Comic Relief, John said: “Have some fun, enjoy yourself but give us your money!”
