THE Government is to provide more than £100m of extra money to deal with potholes, it was announced today.
The funding, to go to local councils in England, is in addition to the £831m already provided to councils for road maintenance this year and the £3bn the Government has committed over the next four years.
The Department for Transport (DfT) said the severe weather at the end of last year had left many roads in a poor condition.
Transport Secretary Philip Hammond said: “I am determined to see the winter damage fixed as quickly as possible and we will be working with councils to make sure that happens.”
